You don’t want to miss this psychological horror directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Split, which was released January 20,2017 stars James McAvoy(X-Men film series), Anya Taylor-Joy, and Betty Buckley.

Split is about a man named Kevin who suffers from personality disorders. Not just one but twenty-three different personalities. One personality in particular kidnaps three teenage girls: Claire, Marcia, and Casey.

Held captive, they must find a way to escape or convince one of Kevin’s personalities to release them before the 24th and final personality appears. That being the “Beast”.

The film overall was very well written and directed however the parts of the movie that were not focused on the teenagers and Kevin felt rather tedious. Whenever Kevin was not startling the girls, he was visiting his therapist, Dr. Karen Fletcher.

Although these scenes were rather crucial, it left me feeling Dr. Fletcher’s purpose was worn out.

Casey(portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy) really brought the character to life in such a way that overcoming hard times makes you stronger. She used her own technique that would involve knowing the enemy before making deliberations.

Throughout the movie, flashbacks to Casey’s past are shown giving the audience a fell for why she began to isolate herself. Once again, we see parts of the movie dragging on.

Most flashbacks were unimportant and served less as a justification more than anything.

You will definitely be surprised when it comes to who lives and who dies. It may even cause a sense of grief knowing these characters in a likable way.

If you have not watched the movie Unbreakable, then you will not understand the plot twist at the very end.

Split, believe it or not, shares a connection to the film which stars Bruce Willis as David Dunn.

I myself did not comprehend this and therefore feel this scene could have went into more depth for the one’s who never watched the previous film.

Go watch Split because I guarantee , you will be fascinated with the way James McAvoy extends his acting range, considering he has to depict several characters more than once. My favorite being Hedwig, etcetera.
